The ACS is a National (or even international) organization so its meetings
have worldwide significance.

The ACS holds two
National Meetings each year and planning starts more
than 10 years before the
meeting.
The National Meeting is the place where most of the ACS Divisions deliver their
programming.  The meeting is five days of
symposia, exhibitions, tutorials, and
poster sessions that cover every area of chemistry, chemical engineering and
related sciences.
Short courses with renowned instructors, workshops,
divisional and committee meetings and other related sessions also occur at
national meetings.

The
ACS Council and the many ACS Committees meet at the National Meeting.

The Bench To Pilot Plant Symposium was
held several times in North Jersey and then at
National. Les was involving both the local and
national event.  The symposium was a great
success with a capacity crowd on a Thursday
afternoon!  The main focus of the National
meeting is cutting edge Technical
presentations such as "Bench".
The National Meeting is a venue for social and
networking events for many scientific groups.  The
RSC holds a reception at every National ACS meeting

The ACS holds other important meetings outside the
Spring and Fall National Meetings.  Several training
sessions are held for volunteers and leaders.  In Late
January or early February multiple different groups
combine at the ACS Leaders Conference.  Here (at

Extraordinary Leaders Course (part of the
Leadership Development System).
The National Meeting is also a venue for the presentation of national ACS Awards.  This event is
an opportunity for ACS to recognize the leaders of our field.
