A Partner in Science
Collaborations Contribute to Professional and Personal
Success
Les has extensive experience leading large collaborations and complex,
multisite projects. The skills and understanding gained from these
experiences can be applied to his many professional and volunteer roles.
A common feature of many of these partnerships is that Les has little
formal authority or even face to face interactions with the people and
groups involved and so has developed strong monitoring and negotiation
skills.
Professionally Les has successfully played many roles as a Team
member, collaborator and Leader:
Leader of two successful CV Research Programs in collaboration with
Myogen/Gilead
Coordinated efforts of external partner, academic collaborator and internal
team as leader of Purine Nucleoside Phosphorylase Inhibitor Team
Responsible for all aspects of Matrix Metalloprotease (MMP) program.
Author of platform proposal for global Novartis Competitive MMP Program
incorporating input from multiple Novartis sites and disease areas
Worked effectively with Basel based co-leader for research project
Led several projects with colleagues based in California and Japan
