Les is a member of 5 Divisions, has organized symposia at the National
meeting for 3 of them and served on the Long Range Planning Committee of
the Medicinal Chemistry Division (
learn more about the Med. Chem. Division).

Les also served as Co-Chair of the joint
LSAC/Divisional Activities
Committee (DAC) sub-committee on Local Section-Division interactions.

Many ACS Divisions participated in
MARM 2005 and the North Jersey
Section (and its Topical Groups) organizes many very high quality technical
sessions.

Les is a member of the following Divisions:
Organic Chemistry, Medicinal
Chemistry, Chemical Information, Computers in Chemistry and Industrial and
Engineering Chemistry.

Les has organized 9 technical sessions at National ACS Meetings and
chaired the multi-session "Chemistry of Systems Biology"
Presidential Theme
for the Boston Meeting (Fall 2007). Learn more about themes and their
organization by the Thematic Programming Committee and

Les has been very involved in many of the North Jersey Section's events,
Award programs and minisymposia.  Some of the most important of these
include
The Baekeland Award, where Les has served on the award jury and
on the organizing committee, and several meetings organized with the
Organic Topical Group such as the "Bench To Pilot Plant" series.
Les has also contributed to activities in the Northeastern Section (in and
around
Boston) and was one of the founders and Co-chair of the
ACS/RSC/IUPAC Advances in Chemical Sciences Symposium.

Les was honored to
Chair the 2008 Medicinal
Chemistry Gordon
Research Conference
Les served in the Chair succession for the Gordon Research
Conference on Medicinal Chemistry between 2006-2008. The Gordon
Research Conferences provide an international forum for the
presentation and discussion of frontier research in the biological,
chemical, and physical sciences, and their related technologies.  The
Medicinal Chemistry GRC is the most prestigious meeting in the fireld.
Key to the success of many of the RSC US
events is the social component but the
meetings all have a technical talk.  At the
Spring 2009 meeting at the British Embassy in
Washington D.C. Dr. Bob Peoples of the
ACS
Green Chemistry Institute gave an excellent
talk on "Green Solutions".
Les also organized a symposium at the Inflammation Research Association's International
meeting (the symposium was on Kinases).

Les has also played various roles within Novartis's Award and Seminar programs.  He also
works to enhance Novartis's interactions with Universities and students.
