| The Local section Activities Committee (LSAC) works with local sections to enhance their success, to promote the well-being of their members, to foster the spirit of volunteerism, and to carry out the mission of the American Chemical Society at the professional and community level. Les McQuire served on LSAC from 1999 to 2006. |

| LSAC has four sub-committees. Les Chaired the "Future Local Sections and Leaders" from 2001 to 2004 and the "Alliances" sub-committee in 2005 and 2006. Les was also the Co-chair of the joint LSAC/DAC sub-committee on Local Section - Division interactions. |
