Attended the SEED poster session where I helped with judging then
attended the North Jersey ACS Executive Committee meeting.

August 15th-21st: ACS National Meeting
Philadelphia. PA
Attended the ACS National meeting.  I attended the meetings of B&F,
CEPA and ConC.  I was also elected as chair of ConC for 2009.

August 3rd - 8th: Gordon Research Conference on Medicinal

Chaired the Med. Chem. GRC at Colby-Sawyer in New London, NH.

July 17th: Conference Call About ACS Presidential Event
Conference call with the Board Oversight Group and Tom Lane about the
Presidential event in Salt Lake to launch the Leadership Development
System.

July 2nd: RSC Dinner and Cruise at NERM
Burlington, VT
Attended the RSC event at the ACS Regional Meeting in Burlington.

July 2nd: Northestern Regional Meeting (NERM)

Attended the ACS regional meeting in Burlington.

Meeting to plan the details on 2008 activities and outline the 2009 program.

May 18th: American Chemical Society Middle Atlantic Regional
Meeting
Flushing, NY
Attended MARM 2008 being hosted by the New York Section ACS at
Queensbourgh Community College.

May 17th: RSC-USA Spring Meeting
Flushing, NY
The spring meeting of the RSC USA Section at Queensbourgh Community
College (the site of MARM 2008).  Prof. Yorke Rhodes gave and excellent
after dinner talk.  Several members of the section visited the Queens
Botanical Gardens in the afternoon prior to the dinner meeting.

April 19th: ACS BOG Executive Committee Meeting
Washington, DC
The 4 members of the ACS Board Oversight Group on Leadership
Development met for a day long strategic planning session to help prepare
for the budget request to fund the Leadership Development System.  There
were several conference calls and e-mails over the next month to review and
finalize the budget request.

April 11th: ACS/RSC/IUPAC Advances in Chemical Sciences
Symposium
Cambridge, MA
300 attendees, 17 vendors, 13 corporate and 3 educational sponsors made
the 2nd Annual Symposium a huge success.

March 4-10th: ACS National Meeting
New Orleans, LA
A busy but very interesting meeting where I served on several committees
and talked with many chemists.

March 28th: Executive Committee Meeting RSC US Section

Meeting to plan the details on 2008 activities and outline the 2009 program.

Attended another excellent day long symposium hosted by North Jersey
ACS and a variety of NJ companies.

March: On-going Discussions about ACS Leadership Development
Various discussions to plan for the budget proposal to fund the new ACS
Leadership Development System.

March 13th: Talk by Prof. Bergman at NESACS
Cambridge, MA
Attended ACS dinner followed by an excellent talk by Prof. Bergman.

March 13th: Nominations and Elections Conference Call
Discussion of possible changes in the ACS election process

February 29th - March 2nd: ACS Board Oversight Group Meeting
Dallas, TX
A meeting of the ACS Board Oversight Group (BOG) to review progress.  I
lead discussions on our vision or the Leadership Development System in
2009-2011, the pricing of the courses and chaired a meeting of the Pipeline
group.

February 25-28th: Multiple Discussions about Leadership Training
There were various discussions during the week to plan the Dallas meeting.  
I also participated in discussions to plan the 2008 ACS/RSC/IUPAC
Symposium and the activities of Corporation Associates.

February 25th: North Jersey ACS Executive Committee Meeting
Madison, NJ
An important meeting of the Section Executive Committee where I
presented a detailed overview of the financial position of the Indicator (the
newsletter of the New York and North Jersey Sections).

February 13th: Pipeline Conference Call
A conference call to discuss the pricing of the ACS Leadership
Development System courses.  There was a pre-meeting on Feb. 11th to
discuss the agenda and goals for the call.

February 11th: ACS/RSC/IUPAC Conference Call
A conference call to the speakers for the ACS/RSC/IUPAC Symposium in
the Boston/Cambridge area.

January 29th: ACS/RSC/IUPAC Conference Call
A quick conference call to discuss the possibility of and the ideas for a joint
ACS/RSC/IUPAC Symposium in the Boston/Cambridge area.  

January 25-27th: ACS Leadership Institute
Dallas, TX
I attended the first Leadership Institute organized by the Board Oversight
Group (BOG).  I am a member of BOG.  It was a fun, busy and informative
weekend.

January 18th, 2008: Pipeline Marketing Consultant Conf. Call
Planning meeting with Nancy Brenny, Latrease Garrison and Cheryl
Mathews to discuss plans for marketing the LDS and the agenda for the
BOG meeting in Dallas.

January 12-16th, 2008: Discussions - NoJ ACS "Section Meeting"
Discussions wit various Leaders from the North Jersey Section about the
possibilities for a "Section Meeting" involving multiple groups within the
Section.

January 12th, 2008: Indicator Committee Meeting
Madison NJ
Chaired the annual meeting of the Indicator Advisory Committee which
directs the operation of the joint New York and North Jersey Newsletter.

January 11th 2008: Royal Society of Chemistry US (East Coast)

The committee reviewed the 2007 Section Report, the 2008 budget and
plans for 2008.

January 11th 2008: ACS Leadership BOG Teleconference
A discussion of progress, goals and action items for the ACS group
developing the Leadership Development System.

Dec 18th 2007: ACS Leadership Pipeline Teleconference
A discussion of progress, goals and action items for the Pipeline Team, part
of the ACS group developing the Leadership Development System.

Dec 15th 2007: North Jersey ACS  Planning Meeting

Took part in the annual planning meeting.  I presented information on the
Indicator and the new ACS Leadership Development System.  I also led a
short discussion about the proposed NoJ ACS "Section Meeting".  A short
meeting to discuss the section's annual report followed the meeting.

Dec 7-8th 2007: National ACS Budget and Finance Committee

Took part in the B&F Committee meeting.  This meeting reviews the
financial performance of the society, the projections for 2008 and general
financial strategy.

Nov 26th 2007: North Jersey ACS  Executive Committee Meeting

Took part in the Executive Committee meeting.  Later that evening I heard
that I had been re-elected to the ACS Council by the members of the North
Jersey Section.

Nov 20th 2007: Board Ovesight Group Conference Call
Discussed the recent progress and future plans for the leadership
Development System and the Leadership Institute.

Nov 17th 2007: Royal Society of Chemistry (US Section) AGM
Princeton Club, New York
An enjoyable evening of social interaction, science and the business of the
Section.  I was elected as Secretary for the Section.

Nov 15th 2007: Baekeland Award Symposium and Dinner
Newark, NJ
I was not able to attend the meeting itself but had been involved in helping to
plan and organize the very successful event.

Oct 31st 2007: call with Latrease Garrison re Board Oversight Group  
We discussed some of the issues and our hopes and plans for the ACS
Leadership Development System.

Presidential Theme
Finalizing the Program for the "Chemistry of Systems Biology" Sub-Theme
for the Fall 2007(Boston) National Meeting.  6 ACS Divisions will
co-sponsor 19 technical sessions with the sub-theme.

March 30th 2007: ACS/RSC/IUPAC Advances in Chemical Sciences
Symposium

220+ chemists attended a symposium which was also sponsored by 8
pharmaceutical companies.  19 vendors took part in the exhibition.  I served
as co-chair for the meeting.
